Virtual Environments: Security for Windows

Israeli Software Promises Complete Security

Earlier today I was browsing through a (print) news article about a new form of PC security being developed by Israeli "whiz kid" Zak Dechovich.

Later, while reading some online message boards, I saw that three new worm virus warnings were posted on ZDNET and other tech sites, all three exploiting Microsoft Windows based systems, which are the favorite easy target for hackers.

So I decided to search the web and see if I could find more about Dechovich and his software.

He's now 20-something, but has been programming since he was 5 1/2 years old. He spent his early teens on the dark side, hacking and cracking just for fun. He went on to serve as a computer security specialist for the Israeli Army, then founded his own software company in 2002.

SecureOL, (http://www.secureol.com/), produces several software titles using what Dechovich calls "Virtual Environment" software.

The products are geared toward commercial and networked computing environments, but they plan to release "EVE", a personal computer version, that as their website states, is "..set to generate new world standards in information security. Based on VE2, SecureOL's flagship product EVE will provide total PC protection with no limit to the number of Virtual Environments. All threats to the computer, whether resulting from intellectual property theft, fraud, cyber crime or cyber terrorism will be made irrelevant...".

The "VE" in the software titles is for "Virtual Environment" a way of dividing computer resources so that external data from one application can not affect any other data.
