A good part of advertising is forming a connection with your intended audience.

Depending where you live, you may have grown up eating sandwiches called subs, hoagies, grinders or heros.

All are basically the same thing. But, if you ran a radio ad in Massachusetts for the "best hero in town", not too many people would associate your ad with somewhere to go for lunch.

Radio, broadcast t.v., newspaper and other traditional media outlets sell expose in regional markets, but the internet, cable tv., satellite radio and other new media forms make it much harder to target the market you want to advertise to.

"...words your customers use when they discuss your products or services is the key to expanding sales..."

On the internet, search engines allow people to type in a few keywords, and the engine presents the searcher will a list of resulting web sites. Using the words your customers use when they discuss your products or services is the key to expanding sales in the market you currently serve.
