LEXIPIXEL Site Manager has an easy to use Page Editor which allows you to create simple or complex web pages by filling in the blanks.

Each Page is a database record that references HTML objects. Aside from the directory, filename, page title, description and keywords the rest of the images, text, HTML, CSS and scripts are stored in objects.

Each object follows simple CSS based positioning, size, color and other elements of style. Change the CSS, (with the built in CSS editor), and you can change the look of an entire site -- or simply refine or adjust the look and feel of certain classes of objects.

Each object is a block of plain text, html, or mixed text and html. Each object has a unique id and stores the content text / html text in a plain (ASCII) text file. You can change the name, object class or content text / html and all pages which use that object will be changed.

There are (10) classes of object files:

  • Leader: information displayed above the page, sometimes called a leader-board.

  • Masthead: company or website logo or other information that you want to appear at the top of a page, group of pages, or all pages on site.

  • Top Nav: commonly used for 'button bar' type navigation. Using CSS and HTML you can create almost any look and feel you want from 'text browser' to drop down menus, mouseovers, and other effects.

  • Left Column: left-most column content for multi-column layouts.

  • Banner / Box: a box that will span the center and right columns, use to display announcements, events, ads or other information

  • Content/Body: the main content of the page. In most cases there will be one content / body object for each page on a a site. If you have off-season and on-season information, winter, spring , summer or fall... simply create, store and select from different content and update the site in seconds.

  • Right Column: right-most content column in multi-column layouts.

  • Bottom Nav: use for bottom of page navigation links, may be duplicates of Top Navigation.

  • Footer: common information displayed below the content of a page. May contain copyright, company info, or information that will span the bottom of the page.

  • Trailer: information that appears below the normal page layout.

Databases:

LEXIPIXEL Site Manager (CMS) and included perl / CGI scripts use simple delimited ASCII text file as tables and indices. When a large amount of information needs to be stored with a database record it is saved as an object file, associated with that record.

No third party database software is needed to work with LEXIPIXEL files. All scripts, databases and object files can be modified online or downloaded and modified with any plain text editor.
